5th Annual Charity Cup
Hockey Game
March 4th, 2007 |
The 5th Annual Charity Cup Hockey game between Flakeboard and St Marys Paper occurred on Sunday March 4th at the Steelback Centre. Over it's 5 year span, this event has raised close to $20,000 for local charity. This year proceeds of over $4000 were given to the local firefighters fund, which in turn goes to over twenty charities they support. The game was organized by the players and a replica Stanley Cup made from MDF (medium density fibreboard) was the prize. The bulk of the money raised is from players collecting pledges, but businesses can donate by purchasing a spot on the Cup - call 942-6070 ext 2267. The game was sponsored by Steelback Brewery.
